The National Institute for Unification in Seoul recently gave a lecture on North Korea.
It explained that North Koreans who come to the South are systematically questioned via a survey with 1100 questions in order to draw conclusions about the North Korean economy, among other things. The questions relate to the distribution of goods, for example. But also where and how they obtain information and entertainment.
80% of the North Koreans surveyed stated that they had watched Western films. South Korean dramas on USB sticks are popular. They are a status symbol. With a 16 GB stick, you are king in the school playground, as the presentation claimed.
This is in stark contrast to the reports in the Telegraph and numerous other Western media, which can be dismissed as pure BS propaganda.
